![]() ![]() Original Air Compressor Mounting The original air compressor drives the engine fuel pump which is bolted to the rear end of the compressor. See Figure 'Original Air Compressor Mounting'. I used to put it in when I was planning to do an engine freshen up job and run it for a month or so, Made it nice and clean inside. What I have done is warm up put in couple gallons of diesel let idle at 1000 for 15 minutes change oil and filter. After replacing water pump, what should be done about trace amounts of coolant left in oil cavities in oil system? Run a short oil change? or what else should I be thinking about doing? The coolant leak was just a seep, I just "happened" to catch it before it got really bad. The water pump on my 12.7 Detroit was letting coolant into the engine oil.
